NOTE: This was taken from the blog of Foundations Health Solutions leader Bob Speelman. Bob works closely and frequently communicates with our Foundations Health facilities. It is so inspiring to see how each care team embodies the vision of our founder and nursing home developer, Brian Colleran, to be "A Culture of Care."I spent yesterday at Crown Pointe Care Center, one of our centers in Columbus, Ohio. The care at Crown Pointe is exceptional. I have so many fond memories of this facility because it was my very first facility as an Administrator with Foundations Health Solutions back in 2002. Several of the staff members that were there over 20 years ago are still there today, and I got to work alongside one of them and the rest of their team on that Unit.
Murene Durand was a Nursing Assistant at Crown Pointe when I was the Administrator. She has, from day one, been all about the residents, caring for them and meeting their needs. She has always been a team player, and all the staff adores and respects her.
Murene works alongside Jeanette Hite, better known as GiGi(a nickname given to Jeanette from Murene), and Michaella Bayon. GiGi is a Nursing Assistant who has been at Crown Pointe for six years. Michaella is the Nurse on the Unit and has also been at Crown Pointe for six years. The three of them make the most amazing team.
As we worked together throughout the day, Murene told me,
“Bob I’m not fast, but I’m thorough.” I smiled at Murene and said,
“Murene, you’re a lot faster than me, but I love the fact that this isn’t just a job to you, you take the time to visit and joke with your residents while you’re providing care.” It was so obvious how much Murene’s residents love and appreciate her.
Murene, you have obviously found your gift in life. You are a natural caregiver. The most moving and powerful thing about spending time with you was witnessing you giving your gift away to your residents.
God bless you!
